Financial Assistance

The Maverick Volleyball Club is committed to helping all athletes play volleyball. The following is a list of community opportunities that have provided financial support to athletes involved in either recreational or competitive sport programs.

Payment options for Competitive & Training Centre players

Regional, National and Provincial teams can accommodate a monthly payment schedule or lump sum payments (let your team treasurer know your preferences).

Subsidies for Learn-to-Play/Recreational and Competitive Programs

Several community funds are available to families in financial need. Typically the payments come to us directly and are discretely deposited into your Maverick account. The following listed organizations are active sponsors of Maverick athletic programs:

Canadian Tire - Jumpstart Program

This program provides a maximum amount of $300 per athlete for families in need of financial support. Canadian Tire is a key supporter of youth in sport.

  • If a confirmation letter is required to verify an athlete’s registration in a Maverick Volleyball program, please contact benfund@maverickvolleyball.ca.
  • When a subsidy is granted to an athlete, the funds are paid directly to the Maverick Club. Those funds are redirected to the program or team to offset the athlete’s fees.

Team Fundraising / Sponsorship Options

1) Host your own volleyball tournament

Teams may choose to host their own tournament (either independent or OVA). This is a great opportunity to fundraise as well as do some team bonding! Options such as 50/50 draws, silent auctions, a canteen or use your imagination for other possibilities during the tournament. To inquire about hosting an OVA tournament, contact Sally Spack at sally.spack@maverickvolleyball.ca. She will assist with inquiries about OVA tournament opportunities, or to rent gym space for any other type of volleyball tournament.

Teams choosing to host a tournament canteen can approach companies to sponsor the food or provide in-kind donations to increase their profit. A template for a food and beverage donation letter can be modified to provide to potential sponsors (such as Costco, Metro or Loblaws, etc.)

2)  Solicit community businesses  for Team Sponsors

Teams may acquire team sponsors to have funds directed to their team budget. A formal letter on Maverick letterhead should be provided to the sponsor. Logos/signage may be required based on the sponsor benefits as agreed with a potential sponsor. Please contact chris@maverickvolleyball.ca to discuss options and to provide a template letter.

3)   Fundraising Initiatives

Bottle drives;
Raffles;
Raking leaves in a neighbourhood;
Selling St. Albert’s cheese, chocolate, popcorn, etc;
Many other options!
