Kerry founded the Maverick Volleyball Club in 1985, a year after he began a 29-year teaching career at Colonel By Secondary School. His time is devoted to family and Maverick Volleyball. Coaching both boys and girls teams some years, his coaching highlights included: 31 league championships, 18 regular seasons undefeated, 4 OFSAA top-four finishes, and an OFFSAA gold medal (1988).

He was the Region 6 Athlete Development Program Chair for four years and coached the Regional Team for three years. Kerry is a Certified Level 2 Coach and, at this point, the number of athletes that Kerry helped start on their paths towards achieving their goal of playing at the university level is almost incalculable. Some of his athletes have gone on to play professionally around the world and others have represented Canada (National Team players Cheryl Stinson and Jordan Canham, and numerous National B team players).

Upon retiring from teaching, Kerry commuted to Kingston to coach the RMC women’s team to one its most successful seasons. He officially retired as President of Maverick Volleyball in August 2025 at the Club’s 40th Anniversary celebration. He will assume the role of Chairman of the Board while also serving as the Board Representative for Athlete Relations and Conflict Management, ensuring that the athlete voice remains central to our governance.
