Welcome Jacob! Mavs new Program Coordinator

January 4, 2024

We are thrilled to announce Jacob Matheson as the new Program Coordinator for Maverick Learn-to-Play and Recreational Programs.

Jacob’s impressive journey with Maverick Volleyball started at the age of 11 as a player in our learn-to-play programs. He progressed to the competitive side where he won a provincial championship and national east championship. Jacob had a remarkable record in high school, participating in three OFSAA championships and bringing home 2 gold medals and a silver medal in the senior boys “A” division. Since then, he has gone on to serve as the starting setter for the Algonquin men’s volleyball team, and last year, helped the Men’s Team earn their first ticket to the OCAA championships in 10 years!

In 2016, Jacob began coaching as an assistant coach with Maverick Learn-to-Play programs and have continued coaching ever since with various club and high school teams. HIs most recent competitive coaching experience was with 17U boys in 2021 as an assistant coach, where the team earned a silver medal in tier 2 at nationals, ranking them 8th overall. This year, Jacob has been working as a head coach in our LTP-Rec programs as well as the competitive beach program we offer in the summer.

As a student of e-Commerce (Supply Chain Management) at Algonquin College, Jacob will bring his communication and administrative expertise to his role as Program Coordinator.

We are excited to have Jacob on our management team!
