Maverick Varsity Scholarship

The May 1st deadline is fast approaching for the Maverick Scholarship of Excellence. If you haven’t yet done so, you have one week left to send in your application.

The Maverick Volleyball Club is committed to promoting and supporting excellence among its athletes – both on and off the court. To reward the hard work of athletes who proudly wear the Maverick jersey and plan to pursue volleyball as a post-secondary varsity athlete, we will award a $2000 scholarship to one 18UG player and one 18UB player who exemplify Maverick core values as they go on to hone their skills at the next level.

Applicants must demonstrate excellence in academics, volleyball, and community involvement. They must also be committed to play with a post-secondary volleyball team after high school (college and university programs will be considered).

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be an 18UG or 18UB athlete who is:

• Participating in a competitive or high performance program;
• Continuing their education within a post-secondary program in 2023/2024;
• Continuing to play volleyball for a varsity team within a university, college or other accredited post-secondary institution;
• Able to demonstrate strong academic performance in high school;
• Able to demonstrate involvement in the community.

Please note that 17UG or 17UB athletes who are moving into a post-secondary school within the 2023/2024 school year are also eligible.

Applications and letters of reference can be submitted in French or English.

How to apply?

• Complete the Scholarship of Excellence application form (printable pdf).
• Submit letters of reference from people who can validate your academic excellence and community involvement. Your coach will be contacted by the selection committee.
• Send completed application (before May 1st) to scholarship@maverickvolleyball.ca (use extra paper if desired).

What is the deadline?

• Application deadline is May 1st annually.

When will the scholarship winners be announced?

• Winners will be announced at the Maverick Year-end Banquet.
