Message from CIS National Men's National Champions

2013 / 03 / 05

Jeremie Lortie (Mavs'09, National Champion'09, Ken Davies Award'09, CIS Champion'12, CIS MVP'12) and his brother Bruno Lortie (Mavs'12, Ken Davies Award'12, CIS Champion'13) took the opportunity today to post a thank you message to their former coaches and team mates. They also offered words of encouragement and advice to current Maverick athletes.

These two young men are not only high end volleyball athletes they are humble young men who have not forgotten their roots.

Hi everyone!! Bonjour à tous!!

This weekend was a big weekend for the Mavs Alumni!! Bruno and Myself would like to congratulate Phil James and André Bégin for their big win against number 2 Trinity Western and a great Job for your well deserved 4th place. We would also like to congratulate Frank Jones for his bronze medal and Jori Mantha for his silver medal. You guys gave us a great challenge!

Bruno and I would like to say a BIG THANKS to the whole Mavericks community! We learned to play, live and eat volleyball in this great club, which produced great volleyball athletes through the past 27 years.

I would like to thank all my coaches and my teammates that helped me to grow into the player I became in my 3 awesome years with the Mavericks. Special thanks to Frank St-Denis, Ron Clarke, Jeffrey Mooney, Bruce Dunning, Kerry MacLean, Tony Martins, Paul Gratton and Jason Boivin for being my coaches. Thanks to André Bégin, Hugo Curley, Phil James, Mitch Clarke, Phil Yeldon, Chris Spack, Jori Mantha, John Ernest, Daniel Campeau, Robby Earl, Konrad Czechowski, Josh, Max and all my other teammates that made me live so awesome moments.

Special thank you to John Nguyen for always believing in me; even after my Mavericks Career. Merci à Thierry Lavigne pour l’aide incroyable des dernières années. Merci pour cet été et merci de m’avoir legué ton numéro à Laval. Merci à Louise Gratton pour ton implication.

To finish I would just like to say one thing: Imagine, Dream, Believe! Being a National champion is the best feeling ever!! I felt it with the Mavs (09) and now with l’Université Laval (13). There is no better feeling in sports than reaching the highest goal! I would like to say to the young kids to always believe in yourself and keep working hard; your dreams will come true! When I started I was just a tall lanky guy with credit card hops. With hard work came National Champion twice and National MVP.

Thanks again to all! See you this summer.
Merci à tous le monde et aux encouragements

Jérémie et Bruno
