Maverick Youth Programs is Hiring!

Technical Director, Development Programs
Location - Ottawa, Ontario
The Development Programs Technical Director (TD) is responsible for the delivery of the
Maverick Development Programs from October to August. The TD is responsible for
the curriculum, coach selection and performance, evaluations and developing a culture
of excellence with athletes and staff.
About Maverick Volleyball
The Maverick Volleyball Club has served Ottawa and its surrounding communities in
providing our youth with high quality volleyball programs since 1985. Our Club takes
pride in our successful track record of promoting and cultivating leadership,
organizational, team and life skills for the benefit of its members. We strive to foster an
inclusive community that strives for excellence.
Along with our successful Competitive Club program the “Mavs” also offers
recreational and progressive learning programs to complement its competitive teams
and fulfill its "volleyball for life" focus. A series of programs provide recreational
opportunities – from progressive learn-to-play to intermediate instruction and skill
development – for youngsters and teens of all skill levels and ages to play at a level
that best suits their needs.
Affectionately known as "YOUNG MAVS" our developmental programs offer innovative
8-week programs offered indoors in the fall, winter and spring as well as outdoors on
the beach in the summer.
Smashball and Kids Volley for ages 6-10
Youth Volley for ages 10-11
Teen Volley for ages 12-14
House Leagues for ages 13-17
These programs reach approximately 1,200-1,300 children between the ages of 6-17
annually. We will employ approximately 30 coaches to run these programs at 8-10
Our Young Mavs/House League programs are complemented by seasonal camps run
at March Break and in the Summer which reach approximately another 400-450 youth
through 15-20 camps in July-August. The variety of camps will include options for
beginners, intermediate and competitive athletes.
An additional 40 coaches are employed in the summer for our camps and beach
Work Conditions
⁃ Part time spent supervising program delivery across gym facilities in the Ottawa
⁃ Programs from October to May are delivered on weekends and some weeknights
while summer programs are delivered during the day from July to August
⁃ Work independently with minimal direct supervision
⁃ Anticipate an average of 6 hours per week
Key Areas of Responsibilities
⁃ Developing and encouraging a culture of excellence in all programs
⁃ All HR activities related to all coaches including hiring, scheduling and evaluations
⁃ Payroll
⁃ Curriculum development and consistent delivery
⁃ Coach development
⁃ Training of staff
⁃ Responsible and trustworthy
⁃ Flexible and adaptable
⁃ Strong oral and written communication skills
⁃ Organizational skills and the ability to multitask
⁃ Experienced high energy volleyball coach
⁃ Experience working with athletes from 8 to 18 years of age.
