First Half of OC Long weekend

2018 / 04 / 22

As our team is playing in the second half of this draw I had the chance to witness a lot of Maverick teams on their final day. The excitment did not disappoint.

Top of our list was again the 15u age group where two boys teams battled it out on day three of the event for medals at their respective tier. In Div 1 tier 3 the Cavalry was just on the horizon in both o their final four  matches , to Barrie Elites and Fusion in tight losses.  Meanwhile everyone was waiting for the Div1 Tier1 Goldmedal match between our Chargers and of course Pakmen. With a swing to win in each set the Chargers battled to the end succumbing by two points in each set. Great performance and gutsy comeback in the second left us all proud.

On the 14u girls side 4 teams carried the banner and while the 14u Outlaws finished highest in the province with a move from the 21st seed to a Div 1; T-1, T-13 finish. Two weeks in a row this group of girls has made that statement about the future.

Meanwhile in also in Div1 and T4 the Raiders played out the string losing in the bronze medal game to south County in a thriller with great action. In Div 2 the Desperados had an rough openning day but then started to catch fire with a 2-1 record on day 2 and then on day three they continued to roll all the way to the final before falling in the final.

Meanwhile the Banditas competedin Div 4 where they were able to secure the Bronze with a thrilling win over Galaxy Vortex.

Also in Waterloo this weekend were the 17u Rangers who had a rollercoaster weekend where the first day saw them dropping to a regroup pool where they did just that and came back to play for the right to be top 8. Unfortunately so did their first round opponent and the result was a move to T2 where they would finish T-9.
