Broaden Your Horizons

2018 / 02 / 07

At the conclusion of every season, the Club is asked whether there are camps or developmental sessions available for our current athletes. The Club offers a wide array of developmental opportunities namely the Young Mavs programs and our Competitive Beach teams. To bridge the gap between our Beach and our youth development we brought in our Broaden Your Horizon program in the summer of 2016. Based on overwhelming positive response in the previous two summers by both parent and athlete, we have decided to continue with the program this summer. Below are but a few testimonials from previous participants and parents.

“Cost was great.  I have to say that there's more expensive camps out there and they’re not any better than this camp.  This was great value!!”

“The girls were very fortunate to have such high level and variety of coaching for this program.”

“It met our expectations and our daughter was also very satisfied. The coaches were very dedicated and engaged. We truly appreciate your time and effort put in to the program.”

“Coaches were always ready and positive regarding athlete development. I was really impressed by the coaching staff.”

“Dedicated and well organized!”

“The coaching staff were very focused on the improvement of all the players, which helped all those who came show noticeable improvements. The coaching staff was great.”

The “BROADEN Your HORIZON” skills development session will provide an opportunity for athletes to work on specific skills over an extended period of time. An environment that promotes intensity, purpose and volume contacts combined with low athlete-coach ratio and ongoing instruction. Focus will be on specific weaknesses of athletes as well giving them an opportunity to expand their individual skill set and “Broaden their Horizon”.

Broaden Your Horizons caters to female athletes, specifically those who will be looking to continue in our High Performance or Pre-High Performance stream in September. To enhance the program quality, participation numbers will be limited and based on size of venue, 3 courts vs 2 courts and number of coaches. In 2017 we were able to maintain a 6:1 ratio athletes to coaches.

The program targets birth years 2004 – 2001

Birth years 2004: Select spots will be available based on recommendations from coaches.

*Limited space will be available to keep instructor to athlete ratio low.                                        We reserve the right to limit our registration and make selections based on a best fit for our program.

Program will run in the evenings from first week of July to third week of August, 7 weeks total. Specific location and times TBA once we fine tune details of program. Last summer we offered the program 4 nights a week, Monday through Thursday with registration option to select 3 days of the 4. To have continuity in the program we’ll continue to offer 4 evenings with a registration choice for 3 of those days. The reason for the evening program is to avoid conflict with our day camps, Competitive Beach and Strength and Conditioning.

Last summer, cost was $380 for a 3 day per weekly involvement. The final cost this summer will be dependent on the registration numbers and venue cost and clinicians but we’d like to keep it within the $360-$400 range for the 3 evenings which is an equivalent of $15-$20 per 2 hour session.

We are looking to get registration information out by mid-February and open online by the end of February. Please continue to check our website or your Amilia account.
