Final Weekend in the books...

2016 / 03 / 28

The 15u boys division was the last to finish their OVA regular season and the Chargers put in their best performance of the season right on cue. Coach Mike Spears has been following the plan set up at the beginning of the season telling us that this team will show it's true ability when the end of year comes aroud.

This past weekend in Kingston the Chargers took to the court with a fury against the 14u North Central team posting very lopsided scores and proving that they were here to make a statement. Well that statement began in the final match of pool play where the second seed in the C pool over whelmed the Ottawa Fusion 15u team by identical scores of 25-20. Winning their pool to set up a nice playoff picture securing the third seed position going into the playoffs.

Their first match-up was against the Markham Reds where the boys once again exerted an overpowering domination with scores of 12 and 14. This easy move to the semis may have caused a bit of an overconfidence issue, as the guys were Thunderstruck by Leaside in the semi-final and went down without too much noise.

Needing to regroup the coach was given a natural target for motivation when their final opponent turned out to be the Fusion group from their pool. This match-up always has our players digging a little deeper just like that team in Blue always brings out more in Sens Nation.

The Chargers would rebound from their semi with a convincing 25-20 win over the Purple and Red group from the west end, but slip in the second losing a 23-25 nail biter. Not deterred and ready to continue the march forward coach Mike's group replied with a game plan that resulted in a comfortable 15-11 decision and a Bronze medal heading into Provincials. Great job all-around and a nice wrap to the 2015-16 season by all Maverick teams.

Now on to the Championships this weekend where the 14u and 17u Girls age divisions hit the court. Looking forward to watching the results onine ( and send our good vibes from here at home.  #mavsproud
