Fall Programs announced for Young Mavs

2015 / 08 / 20

In 2015 we are proud to announce what we think will be a much more flexible program that will engage youth from as young as 8 years old to 18.

New to our program is an exciting “circulation volleyball” program called KIDS-Volley (Grades 3 and 4) where the concepts and tactics of volleyball can be introduced in a way that allows the game to flow through the use of catch and throw techniques. This program is a huge opportunity for young players to have a positive first experience in a volleyball setting.

As the players gain confidence and understanding they will move to YOUTH-Volley (Grades 5 & 6) where a 4 v 4 modification of volleyball will introduce all the basic skills required to play the game at a higher level in the future. Progressive introduction and instruction of the skills will ensure that the game remains dynamic and fun while learning to play.

TEEN-Volley (grade 7 and 8) is our third developmental teaching program where the game of volleyball is modified slightly to increase the number of contacts and quality of play. This program will use the “3 ball” format where teams will play 3 rallies for each ball served. The game will be accelerated so that action is fast and continuous while learning 6 v 6 tactics and position specific requirements.

Finally our House League and City League programs offer Senior Elementary and High School age players a chance to play the sport in a friendly environment with both instruction and competition.

House league is designed for those who love the game and would want to play more than in their PE classes.

City league is designed to give varsity athletes from schools in the area a chance to continue playing beyond their school season without the cost of travel associated with regular club volleyball.
